Trends Analysis of Researches on Middle age in Counseling and Psychology

Abstract
This study analyzed current trends in counseling and psychology studies in an effort to propose new directions for future research. 83 studies, from the last 15 years, specific to middle aged individuals in major academic journals, were analyzed. Results are as follows: First, middle-aged women comprised majority of participants, followed by middle-aged men and women, and middle-aged men, respectively. Second, methodologically, majority were quantitative, followed by qualitative and then a combination of the two. Third, topics were primarily related to individual characteristic variables, followed by counseling and counseling programs, and interpersonal variables in family, respectively. Based on the results, ideas for new research specific to middle aged individuals are discussed.
